a franchise can be a "dog of a deal"

Assuming you are the one offering franchises, as opposed to the one buying or operating one, you expect to do quite well. You can sell the supplies to your franchisees, and in addition you get a nice skim right off the top of every dollar that comes in the register.

The franchisees may not do quite that well, but that is a shame. Your franchisees work like dogs, or like Dog Stop stores, in order to keep your Cadillac payments up to date. Keep those pizza deliveries coming!

There is no longer any reason not to invest your time and money in a franchise. And the operators will be happy to suck the cash from your wallet, your cash register, your bank account, or pretty much anywhere that it might be found.
